If you're concerned about making a purchase, we've compiled some tips on how to make a secure purchase.
1. Make purchases only on the Grailed app or website
Never pay for an item off site. By completing your purchase on Grailed, you ensure you’re protected by our Purchase Protection. This policy helps keep you covered if Grailed determines that your items materially differ from their description or are found to be inauthentic. Any in-person or off-site transactions are not eligible for Purchase Protection and are at the risk of the parties involved.
Please note that Grailed is actively phasing out PayPal as a payment method for purchases as of July 2024. Sellers will not be affected by this update and will still be paid out through PayPal if not onboarded with Stripe.
2. Check the seller’s transaction history and feedback rating
Locate the seller details on a listing page or through their profile overview to find their transaction count. The total transaction number is also shown next to a username in parenthesis.
A seller will have a feedback score shown under their transaction count if their past sales have been reviewed by users. You can click on the feedback count via their profile overview or directly through a listing to see how previous buyers rated their experience with this seller. You can also see any badges on their account.
3. Talk to the seller
Honest sellers should have nothing to hide. You can message the seller directly through the listing and communicate via Messages if you have questions on an item. You may wish to ask for proof of purchase if it's not already shown, or tagged photos (photos with their username on them, usually written on a sheet of paper) from a newer seller as proof that the item is in the seller's possession. If you don't see a shipping option for your location, you can also use this feature to ask about the price to ship to where you are.
4. Keep an eye out for signs of inauthenticity
If you see a suspicious listing that appears inauthentic, purposefully conceals signs of inauthenticity, or if you receive a weird message from a seller, use the Report button so we can investigate further. You can also contact us directly if you’re having any issues reporting.
5. Be sure the seller sends you tracking information
When the seller ships with full tracking, both parties will know where the item is at any given time and will be notified when it's delivered. If the seller hasn't added a tracking number to your order within 7 days of order confirmation, the order will be automatically canceled and refunded. If it’s coming up on 7 days since you ordered and tracking still hasn’t been added, don’t be afraid to send the seller a reminder.
